From pale skies to moving clouds and sudden showers, Lesley’s paintings explore light and atmosphere in our changeable Northern weather. Her landscapes are notable for their colour, atmosphere and expressive marks and are often as much about her feelings as they are about her subject. Vibrant Spring yellows merge into abstraction and a wild frenzy of dark stormy clouds explode above the ocean. Then there are the muted tones of a November shore, contrasting with a diptych in thick oil and collage celebrating all the joys of a Summer’s Day. Inspired by Sandsend, Filey and beyond, there are oils on canvas, printmaking and smaller works on paper. Lesley exhibits widely, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Mall Galleries Discerning Eye and the Affordable Art Fairs in London and Singapore. She is based in York, UK.
